October-destin fishing rodeo

The Destin Fishing Rodeo is one of the main attractions and famous events in Destin every year. This year marks the 73rd Annual Fishing Rodeo, it goes on every year from October 1 to October 31. It is basically a month-long tournament with many categories for anglers of all genres and ages to participate. Over 30,000 anglers compete every year and there are over $100,000 in cash and prizes rewarded to the lucky anglers and captains. They have special events throughout the month but the one that brings the most spectators are the daily weigh ins, every day from 10 AM to 7 PM the scales are open for registered boats to weigh in their catch. Almost every gamefish is recognized with awards from Blue Marlin offshore to redfish inshore. The divisions run from bridge, pier, and jetty to an extended voyage division. There are also junior, teen, ladies, and senior divisions.

If you book a charter with us in the month of October you will automatically be entered into the rodeo, my boat is in the under 25’ division. There are daily and monthly prizes, if we catch a fish that is possibly a daily or 1st or 2nd place winner, we will report to the scales after our trip to weigh in our catch! Last year we won multiple daily prizes and won 2nd place for Amberjack overall. Any child that weighs a fish in will receive a fishing pole from the rodeo while supplies last. If your fish places 1st or 2nd overall at the end of the rodeo, your prize will be shipped to you from the rodeo. If your fish wins a daily prize, you win a rodeo shirt at the end of the day that you will have to pick up at the scales.

This is an exciting month for our town and fishing fleet, we get to put bragging rights in ink and make every trip that much more fun! I hope you will join me this month and help get Lady Luck Adventures on the board with some winning fish!
